Happy New Year … Again

Where does the time go? It’s already New Year’s again? That’s amazing to me. People always talk about how fast time goes by, but it’s true.

The other day I was looking for an email I believed I received from a friend two or three months ago, only to find out it was over 18 months ago! Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I just have so much fun doing what I do that time just flies by. I should have believed Steve Miller when I was a kid. He knew a little something about time slipping into the future.

I love the holiday season. But it always seems to be over so quickly. Parties, family, and food seem to descend into that abyss also known as The First Quarter (spoken in my best horror film narrator voice). This time of year always starts off with positivity in mind. We’re all going to get this year off to a great start! It’s going to be so much better than last year. Everything we’ve been putting off for years will magically get done this year. We’ve all got big plans. But we slowly fall back into reality.

Daylight is short, and where most of us live it’s cold. People don’t want to burn their PTO in the first three months of the year. Motivation gets harder and harder to come by. People are cranky, and many are trying just to survive the monotony.

But maybe this will be our year. Maybe your big IT projects will go off without a hitch. Maybe your people will finally have the free time to give your IT objectives the attention they need. Maybe testing will improve, implementation projects will run more smoothly, and your IT infrastructure will become safer and more secure. Or maybe you’ll find the right partner to help your organization achieve all these things. IT items shouldn’t have to be on your list year after year like your resolutions to lose 20 pounds and eat healthier.

I wish good health and the best of luck to you and yours. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to dust off my treadmill for its annual two-week workout.
